When clubgolf started in 2003, it provided a new concept in junior golf by offering volunteers the chance to get involved in coaching delivery to children.
Along with the schools introductory programme firstclubgolf running nationwide, the aim is for trained volunteers and PGA professionals to offer a structured junior coaching programme within local golf clubs and facilities.
In 2010 there were 1,415 active volunteer golf coaches in Scotland, delivering clubgolf junior coaching programmes at 300 golf clubs and facilities.
clubgolf runs successfully in a variety of different ways across Scotland. In some clubs PGA professionals deliver coaching and are supported by the work of the volunteers. In many clubs that don't have resident professionals, groups of volunteers deliver coaching successfully, using the resources and support offered by clubgolf.
The clubgolf Programme section of this site explains what the clubgolf programme is about and how it works.
The Coaching & Mentoring section explains the various levels at which volunteers can get involved with clubgolf and how you can become trained by the PGA as a golf coach.
