clubgolf
was launched in 2003 as a direct result of Scotland’s bid to host
the 2009 Ryder Cup. Based on the Scottish Executive’s
pledge "to provide every child in Scotland with an opportunity
to experience golf by the time they are nine years old”,
the programme has enjoyed some notable achievements including:
- over
38,000 P5 children (70% of the P5 population) received firstclubgolf
at school in 2009. 1,614
schools delivered the introductory game.
- more than 1 child
in 8 progresses to a structured coaching programme at one of
273 participating golf clubs / facilities - more than10,000
participants in 2009
- almost 2,000 qualified
volunteer coaches have been trained since the outset with 1,264 actively delivering in 2009
The initial clubgolf strategy provided a framework for developing clubgolf in the period to 2009. In recent years various exercises have been undertaken to evaluate the success of clubgolf to date, and to determine the strategy moving forward.
In September 2009 a consultation exercise was undertaken, in which all clubgolf stakeholders were invited to review and feed back on a draft version of the new strategy document.
The consultation period is now over, and the feedback gathered in that process is currently under consideration by the Board of clubgolf Scotland Limited.
The consultation paper and related documents are downloadable from this page, and these will shortly be replaced by a final draft (once approved) of the new clubgolf strategy.
Many thanks to those who responded to the consultation for taking the time to provide your feedback, and for your ongoing support for clubgolf.
kind regards,
