A
lesson from Dalmahoy Seniors
Twenty budding golfers
from Baberton and Turnhouse Golf Clubs had an hour with the
pros at the Charles Church Scottish Seniors at Dalmahoy on
the weekend.
The children, all on clubgolf
programmes and invited to the event by the national junior
golf strategy, were put through their paces by event’s
competitors Morris Bembridge, Bob Cameron, Ross Drummond,
John Chillas, Vincent Garcia and Bobby Lincoln.
Michael Morgan, a second year
student of the Turnhouse Clubgolf programme, was inspired
by his coaching session from Vincent Garcia, father and former
coach to 2007 Open finalist, Sergio Garcia.
“He is a really good
coach and he showed me how to end my shots and how hard I
should hit the ball,” said Michael. “I’ve
got one lesson left at Turnhouse this week and I will practice
all that I’ve learnt. Hopefully I’ll get
better.”
Iain Holt, Turnhouse Junior
Convenor added: “To have an hour’s coaching
from top European Seniors was a great experience for our
juniors and they all enjoyed themselves tremendously. We’re
very thankful for them to them for spending time with our
12 juniors and grateful to clubgolf for inviting us.”
