Banchory clubgolfers after receiving their certificates
Banchory
children top of the class
Volunteer coaches from
Banchory Golf Club awarded certificates to children from
Banchory Primary and Hill of Banchory Primary Schools this
week after they completed clubgolf’s Stage 1 course.
Banchory’s
two primary schools signed up for clubgolf in 2005 and
have since introduced three year groups of P5 children
to golf through clubgolf’s introductory game, firstclubgolf.
Taught
in school, firstclubgolf uses multi-coloured clubs, rubberised
balls, Velcro targets and carefully planned progressive
lesson cards.
Following
the six-week firstclubgolf course, children have the
opportunity to progress to the second phase of clubgolf's
Player Pathway, Stage 1. Banchory Golf Club, one
of Scotland’s 212 clubs playing the vital role
of delivering clubgolf, has hosted clubgolf Stage 1 for
the past three summers.
This
year its eight volunteer coaches gave 20 hours of coaching
covering the fundamentals of putting, chipping, full
swing, rules and etiquette. Progression through
Stage 1 and subsequent stages encourages all children
to develop their potential while being welcomed into
a golf club, and provides access to a structured Player
Pathway.
Twenty
seven children, 14 of them girls, completed Banchory
GC’s Stage 1 course this summer. Eight of them
are now so keen on the game they have taken up membership
at the club.
