Team Championship success
So popular with local children
was last year’s inaugural
East Lothian clubgolf Team Championship – staged on an
early season day at Craigielaw Golf Club - that a bigger competition
returned to the Club this spring.
A bumper entry of 69 children
signed in for the second installment, this time held over
two days. The event, supported by
clubgolf volunteer coaches, Active Schools Co-ordinators and
parents, was sponsored by Hart Builders, who donated prizes.
The children, who have are all
experiencing clubgolf at local clubs signed up to the national
junior golf strategy, took part in a Scramble, a chipping competition
and quiz.
Day 1 winners: Jossie
Campbell (Gullane GC), Richard Foulner (North Berwick GC),
Duncan McLean (Gullane GC)
Day 2 winners: Oliver Ladbroke (Craigielaw GC), Michael
McKinnon (Haddington GC), Paul Todd and Robbie Wood (Fisherrow
GC)
“This was a fantastic opportunity
for the children and we are delighted that so many decided
to take part,” said
East Lothian Junior Golf Co-ordinator, Kate Green.
“This event was achievable
thanks to Craigielaw who kindly gave us use of their facility
and Hart Builders who donated the prizes. In East Lothian
we are very fortunate to have unfaltering support from adult
volunteers consisting of club members, parents and grandparents.
All give their time to ensure that the children are welcomed
into the sport of golf."
