August 2010
Eighty five children from Angus clubs, Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Monifieth and Montrose, took part in clinics with Americal professional golfer Loren Roberts at last month’s Seniors Open.
Known as the Boss of the Moss for his putting skills, Roberts took time to give the children help and advice on how to hit various shots as well as giving secrets to his legendary putting ability.
Said Colin Knight, Senior Development Officer: “The opportunity for young golfers from across Angus to attend a masterclass with Loren Roberts was too good to miss!!
“We are delighted that players from across Angus were able to come along and receive golfing tips from a player of Loren’s calibre. The children and club volunteers who attended have all loved the experience and hopefully they can now put this into practice on the course”
Said Laura Baxter, Development Officer: “Angus Council Sports Development Team have been encouraging and developing junior golf activities across the county for some time now, linking to our leisure facilities and primary schools, and are delighted to have offered children who have attended the Seniors Open the chance to pick a club and have a go.”
