East Kilbride golfer wins prestigious competition

September 2009

East Kilbride’s Emily Glencorse won the Junior Girls Open at held at Millport Golf Course.
 
Emily finished ahead of her sister Julie Glencorse and defending champion Rachel Costello after playing outstanding golf on the day and posting her season’s best score. 
 
European Tour player Alistair Forsyth and Millport Golf Club’s Honorary President, presented the prestigious trophy
 
Emily and Julie have come through Torrance House Junior Academy coaching program and the latest success consolidates Torrance House's reputation in providing the core coaching programme of skills, learning, practice, and competition play for 9-18 year old boys and girls.
 
Torrance House was one of the first club’s in Scotland to offer clubgolf coaching.  A lasting legacy to Scotland’s successful bid to host the Ryder Cup, clubgolf is the national junior golf programme formed through the partnership of the Scottish Golf Union, the Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association, the Professional Golfers' Association, the Golf Foundation and sportscotland.
 
Torrance Academy Coach and Board Member, Margaret McKerlie, "We are so proud of Emily and Julies achievement adding to the great successes we have had from our class of 2009".
 
"We have 14 girls, in the program this year, ranging from absolute beginner through to Scottish International squad team and now our second Junior Open winner in 2009"
